Bridge Demolition Case Study: Shin-Kawajiri Bridge (Old Bridge) Superstructure

Bridge demolition using blasting. It significantly reduces hazardous tasks such as high-altitude work and lifting heavy objects.

A bridge spanning National Route 417 in Ibi River Town, Ibi District, Gifu Prefecture. With the opening of a bypass due to the construction of new tunnels and bridges, the Shinkawajiri Bridge (the old bridge), built in 1961, has completed its 60-year service and was dismantled using blasting techniques. - Structure: Steel Langer Bridge - Bridge Length: 136.7 m - Width: 5.5 m - Weight: 223 tons On both sides of the bridge, steel components were cut using a V-shaped blasting line and dropped directly onto a work platform created on the riverbed of the Ibi River, facilitating a safe mechanical dismantling process on the ground. [Features] - Elimination of the need for large scaffolding, leading to reduced construction time and cost savings - Significant reduction in the risks associated with high-altitude work, including falls - Major reduction in the hazardous task of rigging heavy objects - No special equipment required due to the drop from its own weight - The form after the drop is relatively stable, allowing for smooth subsequent mechanical dismantling *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.*

Structural demolition

The benefits are cost reduction and safety! It controls the enormous energy of explosives.

Our company has consistently contributed to the demolition of various structures, including bridges, buildings, towers, chimneys, and factories, primarily through the use of explosives since our founding. The biggest advantage is cost reduction through shortened construction periods, along with improved safety that comes as a result. Our blasting technology has built a solid trust in the industry through over half a century of experience and relentless research and development. Please feel free to contact us if you have any inquiries. 【Features】 ■ Eliminates the need for high-altitude work, allowing for shortened construction periods and cost reductions ■ Significantly reduces the risks associated with high-altitude work, improving safety ■ Reduces CO₂ emissions by minimizing the operation of heavy machinery ■ Capable of handling various types of building structures *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us.

Case study of bridge demolition: Substructure of the Shinkawajiri Bridge (old bridge)

Bridge demolition using blasting. By toppling tall bridge piers, it connects to a safe mechanical dismantling process on the ground.

A bridge spanning National Route 417 in Ibigawa Town, Ibi District, Gifu Prefecture. Following the collapse of the steel girder bridge in the superstructure, blasting methods were also adopted for the dismantling of the bridge pier in the substructure. - Structure: Reinforced concrete (thickness 40 cm, hollow cross-section) - External dimensions: 9 m × 4 m × height 21.6 m By blasting and crushing the base of the bridge pier into a wedge shape, the pier is made to topple onto the work floor, facilitating a safe mechanical dismantling process on the ground. [Features] - No need for large heavy machinery with long booms - The shape after toppling is relatively stable, allowing for smooth subsequent mechanical dismantling - Improved safety, reduced construction time, and cost savings are anticipated - Cracks in the concrete occur due to the impact during toppling, aiding in the subsequent mechanical dismantling *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.
